169 ex-cons to get jobs in Leitrim & Silgo

22 May 2007 | Ireland | 1 Response by paul savage.

It’s not a joke, nor is it a reflection on the counties, but in total 169 ex-offenders have been put in jobs and training programs in Leitrim and Sligo last year. The program, called The Linkage Programme, is managed by Business in the Community in Ireland (BITC www.bitc.ie) and the Probation & Welfare Services Dept. (www.probation.ie). The aim of the link program is to aid ex-offenders to find access to training, education and eventually employment. The Linkage Program comes under the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion, under the guidance of The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Michael McDowell (let’s see if he is still there after this week’s election !).
