maybe the headline is a bit too sensationalised … but it’s true. 
The Polish government has released their latest unemployment figures, and it’s now down to 12.4%. In June there was a total 1.9 million Polish who were unemployed which is a 90,000 decrease from May this year. This time last year Poland had an unemployment rate of 15.9%. Unemployment has also fallen as hundreds of thousands of Poles have left the country to take jobs in Britain and Ireland since the country joined the European Union back in 2004.
The Poles are the largest non-Irish group living in Ireland, with numbers around 130,000. Even Fás.ie has some of their site in Polish (they also information in Czech, Estonian, Greek Cypriot, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Slovakian, Slovenian) . To our Polish readers in Ireland we say “Witajcie” which means welcome.
