The founder and owner of one of Ireland’s most successful bakeries has died today. Pat Higgins was the owner of ‘Pat the Baker’, which was founded in 1953 in Granard, Co. Longford. Pat the Baker employs over 400 people through direct employees and self-employed agents in Ireland. And it has been Granard’s largest employer for the last 50 years.
