World of Warcraft come to Cork

Great news for the Irish games industry, Blizzard Entertainment ( is setting up a European games support centre in Cork, and aims to create up to 100 jobs over the next three years. The World of Warcraft (WoW) publisher is establishing the centre in Cork City. They will be getting support from IDA Ireland. It is planned to start with 50 jobs initially with a further 50 expected to be added in the coming three years.

This has come as a much welcomed boost to the Irish games industry. World of Warcraft (commonly known as WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. There are more than 2 million players in North America, 1.5 million players in Europe and 3.5 million players in China as of January, 2007. Additionally, the game has over 8 million subscribers worldwide as of August, 2007.

    Anyone know when the first 50 jobs will be available to apply for?
    I been checking the web and although there is plenty of news of the upcoming jobs, there seems to be nothing regarding a date!

    Everyone keeps saying WOW is addictive’ dont go down that road’ blah blah blah. Yes it is pretty addictive but its addictive for a reason.. Its really really fun! And its over 11m players now

    tnat site doesnt appear to be updated very often. There are position showing available that i know have been filled since December.
